Riverhawks Run Well at Nationals

CANANDAIGUA, NY – The Anne Arundel Community College women's cross country team stayed true to their well-deserved national ranking by finishing seventh overall at this year's NJCAA DIII National Championship.

"It is the second highest placing at the national meet that we have had in the last 9 years, so they have a lot to be proud of." Stated Head Coach Jim Griffiths

This year's meet was held at Finger Lakes Community College in Canandaigua, New York with 116 female runners from thirty-one different colleges. Seven Riverhawks at the meet represented AACC.

"I think that the weekend was a great experience for all of us." Coach Griffiths says. "It was the culmination of a really successful season in which all of them showed tremendous improvement. They all did extremely well on a difficult course against an excellent field. They represented AACC very well. As coaches, we could not have asked for more.  I cannot say enough about our two returning sophomores, Sidney Hinkle and Romina Montes Rodriguez, who provided leadership and a strong work ethic for rest of the girls during the entire season. Overall, it was a fantastic Fall!"

Top finisher for the Riverhawks was Hinkle with a time of 22:52.2.  Behind her was freshman Shannon Martin (23:24.7) followed by Montes (23:32.4).  Madelynn Argumedo posted a time of 25:27.2 followed by Caitlyn Shriver at 25:36.3 and MacKenzie Schwartz at 26:01.2, with Megan McCormick finishing up at 30:22.8.
