Race Notes

              The Riverhawk women's cross-country team did exceptionally well this past weekend (10/27) finishing as the 2018 DIII Region XX Champions and the 2018 MD JUCO Runner-Up. The dual-championship meet was hosted by Westmoreland County Community College in Youngwood, PA. 

              Emily Jacobsen (Harwood, MD/South River) would finish first for the Riverhawks with her time of 22:41, with Renee Relf (Glen Burnie, MD/Old Mill) next in at 24:51. Leslei Garcia Mendez (Crofton, MD/Arundel) came in at 25:57, followed by Madeline Fitzgerald (Shady Side, MD/Southern) at 26:08, with Jacquelyn Hamelryck (Kabwe, Zambia) at 27:51, and Heather Verdin (Severn, MD/Old Mill) at 28:50.

              Within the DIII Region XX competition, the AACC team score would earn the first place DIII Region XX Championship Title as Jacobsen & Relf would earn All-Region honors for their individual standings; 2ndand 5threspectively.

              Within the MD JUCO conference competition, the team would fall just shy of Harford CC; earning them conference Runner-up. Again, for their individual standings, Jacobsen (2nd) and Relf (7th) would earn All-Conference honors. 

Up Next

              The Riverhawks will travel to Westfield, MA this weekend (11/3) as Hoyloke Community College is set to host the 2018 NJCAA DIII National Championship. The 5k race will take place at Stanley Park.
