                          Match 2: Anne Arundel Community College Riverhawks 0

                                        Butler County Community College Pioneers 3

              SET 1: A tough match-up for the Riverhawks, facing conference, regional, & divisional rival Pioneers of BCCC. Still warm from their first game defeat over the Howard Dragons, the Pioneers showed their power early with a dominating 25-9 win in set 1 over the Riverhawks.

              SET 2: Second set action continued in favor of the Pioneers, as impressive serving helped defeat the Riverhawks 25-11.  

              SET 3: Riverhawks would battle to the end of the must win set, but struggled to finish it off – dropping 25-22, giving BCCC the 3-0 match victory. 

              Sylvia Frye (Severn, MD/Glen Burnie) would finish the match with 11 kills and 13 digs, sophomore setter Kathryn Hawes (Annapolis, MD/Broadneck) would finish with 12 assists, and Libero Serena Hochmuth (Bowie, MD/Eleanor Roosevelt) would finish with 2 service ace and 10 digs.

                          Match 3: Anne Arundel Community College Riverhawks 2

                                        Howard Community College Dragons 3

              SET 1: The Riverhawks, now the team staying on the court, opened set one against the host Dragons with a dramatic come from behind win, 27-25.

              SET 2: With momentum finally working to their advantage, the Riverhawks continued to keep the Dragons under control, winning set two, 25-21.  

              SET 3: For the first time of the season, the Riverhawks would be on the promising side of a must-win set for a team, yet would be unable to claim the sweep victory as the Dragons edged out a 25-23 win to stay alive.

              SET 4: Now working with the drive, Howard jumped out to an early lead in the fourth set, but AACC would fight on tying the score up at 24-24 to head the teams into extra points. Howard would be triumphant with a 26-24 win.

              SET 5: The opening two set wins had the Riverhawks in a great position to get their first win of the season, but they just couldn't finish it to the end. The Dragons showed their force in the final set, grabbing the lead early and finishing the set 15-9, to claim the come-from-behind match win 3-2. 

              Frye (Severn, MD/Glen Burnie) would finish with 18 kills and 16 digs on the day, Hawes had 9 kills 17 assists and 12 digs, and Hochmuth finished with 2 kills 3 service aces and 19 digs.

            The Riverhawks will continue on the road for their next game, facing the NJCAA DII Region XX Hawks of Hagerstown Community College. The match is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday September 12th at Hagerstown Community College in Hagerstown, MD.
