Game Notes

The season will conclude for the Riverhawks, falling 1-0 in the DIII Region XX semi-finals, against the Dragons of Howard Community College. Hosting the tournament on the cold windy day (10/24), the Dragons would capitalize on their grass home-field advantage, earning them a spot in the championship match.

The Dragons would jump out early on the Riverhawks – producing three shots, but failing to finish on net. The two teams would battle it out on either end but the match would remain scoreless for the first 40 minutes. Placing a top corner shot just out of reach for Riverhawk goalkeeper Hannah Lieb (Annapolis, MD), and the Dragons would take the 1-0 lead just minutes before the first half would expire.

The second half kicked off with great intensity from the two teams, but credit to each goalkeeper for making numerous saves. Lieb would finish with five saves on the day, four in the second half. With some great pushes up until the last second, the Riverhawks would play a respectable match but fall short as the Dragons earned the trip to the championship game with the 1-0 victory.

The starting line would play the full length of the 90 minute match with three shots by Jenna Holthaus (Arnold, MD/Broadneck) two shots by Madeline Stevenson (Severn, MD/Archbishop Spalding), Alessandra Gargano (Linthicum, MD/North County), and Aileen Rivera Cubero (San Antonio, TX/Old Mill), and shots by Ashley Sherwin (Odenton, MD/Arundel) and Angela Sarrach (Crofton, MD). With their tournament performances, Gargano and Gabriell Keogh (Gambrills, MD/Arundel) earn All-Tournament Team honors.

Up Next
