The Riverhawks earned the 4-0 win over the NJCAA DIII Region XV Tigers of the Fashion Institute of Technology this afternoon (9/15). The win was game one & day one of the Dragon Invitational Tournament hosted by Howard Community College in Columbia, MD.

AACC sophomores Madeline Stevenson (Severn, MD/Archbishop Spalding) and Angelina Horan (Lothian, MD/Calverton) would find each other for the Riverhawk 1-0 lead, as Stevenson finished past the Tiger goalkeeper twelve mintues into the match. With scoring opportunities continuing to fire from the Riverhawk offense, Randal Graham (Bowie, MD/Bowie) would tally the next AACC goal, assisted by Angela Sarrach (Crofton, MD/South River) at the 30 minute mark. Off an assist from Stevenson, Reyna Bocanegra (Severn, MD/North County) would register her first goal of the season, giving the Riverhawks a 3-0 lead over the Tigers, as time would expire for the first half.

Finding each other again, Stevenson would score just minutes into the second half of a Horan assist putting AACC up 4-0. That early goal would hold as the final score of the match, as the Riverhawks would earn the 4-0 victory. AACC would finish with 35 shots on the day (FIT - 3) as the offense controlled the ball well throughout the match. Melissa Stagnitta (Annapolis, MD/St. Mary's) would contribute to the shutout as AACC goalkeeper for the majority of the game (71:15), facing one shot and recording one save. Horan would step in for Stagnitta finishing out (18:45) and recording a save of her own.
