Game Notes

Day two of the Dragon Invitational Tournament hosted at Howard Community College began with quite a spectacle for fans as Anne Arundel Community College's Riverhawks defeated the NJCAA DIII Region XV Lions of Nassau Community College in double overtime.

As play began, the Riverhawks were able to push their attack on the offensive end with relentless shots – keeping the Lions' goalkeeper and defense on their toes. But as scoring efforts were left unfinished for the Riverhawks, Nassau was able to take the lead - scoring 25 minutes into the first half. The score would remain 1-0 in favor of the Lions as first half time expired.

The Riverhawks would continue their offensive push and finally have it paid off late in the second half as Madeline Stevenson (Severn, MD/Archbishop Spalding) would find the net off an assist from Angelina Horan (Annapolis, MD/Calverton).

With score now tied 1-1, with less than seven minutes remaining – Nassau delivered a blow to the Riverhawk momentum by finding the net and claiming a 2-1 lead.

As the Lions barely had time to celebrate their new found lead with little time left in the match, Stevenson answers just 4 seconds later with a goal – tying the match up, 2-2, with just six minutes remaining.

Outshooting the Lions each step of the way, the Riverhawks were relentless in their efforts to claim the victory they were working hard towards all game long.  The first overtime period expired with neither team earning the end-all goal.

This match would mark the second time the Riverhawks found themselves in a double overtime situation. With their last experience resulting in a tie, Gabriell Keogh (Gambrills, MD/Arundel) ensured the Riverhawks would walk away with the victory – drilling the back of the net off an assist from Stevenson.
