ARNOLD, MD – The postseason accolades keep rolling in for members of the Anne Arundel Community College women's lacrosse team. Four freshmen members of the Riverhawks' national runner up squad have been named All-Americans by the NJCAA, it was announced recently. The total marks the most in a single year for AACC since its national championship win in 2007.
Lacey Hinkle, Jordan Snyder, Natalie Sonntag, and Bridgette Tayman – all freshmen for the Riverhawks – earned All-America honors.
Hinkle, the MDJUCO Defensive Player of the Year, started all 15 games for AACC, registering 10 caused turnovers and 20 groundballs to go with 26 goals and 10 assists. She was instrumental in the Riverhawks' Region XX title, scoring the game-tying goal and assisting on the game-winner in overtime.
Snyder started all 13 games in which she played. She scored 41 goals and added 27 assists – the fourth-highest total in the nation. Her 68 points placed her eight in the NJCAA. Snyder scored seven goals and added an assist in the NJCAA tournament. During the season, she had 11 multiple-goal games, highlighted by an eight goal, two assist effort in the Region XX Semifinals vs CCBC Essex.
Sonntag led the nation in draw controls with 154 – the most by any player since 2016. She also ranked fourth in the nation with 55 goals, adding 27 assists to rank seventh in the nation with 70 points. She scored five goals including the game-winner and added an assist in the Riverhawks' Region XX win over previously undefeated Harford. Her 17 caused turnovers led AACC.
Tayman was third on the team with 40 goals this season. She started all 15 games for the Riverhawks and was a key playmaker throughout the season. She was tied for the team lead in groundballs with 36 and also corralled 35 draw controls. Her 15 caused turnovers ranked second on the team.
AACC finished the season with an 11-4 record as the NJCAA national runners up. They halted Monroe's 98-game win streak in April, and took home the Region XX Championship in May.
