ESSEX, MD – In their first game in 11 days, the No. 3 Anne Arundel Community College women's lacrosse team showed virtually no lag in a 19-10 win at No. 4 CCBC Essex Thursday evening.  The win sets up a rematch against the Knights in the NJCAA Region XX Semifinal May 8th at Howard CC.

CCBC Essex (6-3, 2-3) started out hot, potting four goals in the first 10 minutes, but Grusholt sparked a five goal Riverhawks spree to see AACC take a 5-4 lead at the 12:54 mark.

The Knights and Riverhawks traded goals for most of the rest of the first half, seeing two lead changes before AACC started an 8-0 run that would span over the break. Leading 10-8 at the start of the second half, the Riverhawks poured in the first six goals of the stanza for a commanding 16-8 lead.

AACC outshot CCBC Essex, 43-28 and benefitted from a 19-12 advantage in draw controls, led by Sonntag, who corralled 10 in the game. Sarah Healy made 14 saves for the Riverhawks, including nine in the second half. AACC continued its strong clear game, finishing 16-for-17, while the ride held CCBC Essex to a 12-of-15 day.

The Riverhawks take a break from top-five action as they host Potomac State Saturday in a 4 pm game. AACC then hosts Howard on Tuesday April 30th in a 6 pm game rescheduled from April 18.
