Game Notes

Despite a team-spread scoring effort, the Riverhawks dropped, 91-64, against conference opponent Raptors from Montgomery College this weekend (2/3), hosted at Anne Arundel Community College.

AACC struggled from the start for this conference match-up, as they were held to just 9 points in the first quarter as Montgomery put up an imposing 21. Aggressive on defense and fluid in their offense, the Raptors were able to continue to build on their lead over the Riverhawks as the game pressed on.

With an already large lead, the Raptors shot 5-9 from beyond the arc and were perfect at the free-throw line, giving them the lead at half time with the score 27-19.

Outshooting the Raptors in the 3rd quarter gave the Riverhawks a bit of momentum on offense yet they still struggled to stop the powering Montgomery offense.

Although holding the Raptors to their lowest at 16 points in the 4th quarter, the Riverhawks were unable to overcome the large deficit they found themselves in. Too many AACC mistakes against the assertive and relentless Montgomery – the Riverhawks would ultimately fall, 91-64.

The loss wasn't for lack of effort from the short roster of the Riverhawks, with each player pushing from start to finish. Jordan Graham (Severn, MD/Old Mill) hit her season high with 19 points, and fell just shy of a double double as she grabbed 9 rebounds. Marcelaine Augustin (Lowell, MA/Riverdale Baptist) finished with 15 points, Hannah Lieb (Annapolis, MD) finished with 12 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 steals, and Daja Burnett (Arnold,MD/ Severna Park), also just shy of a double double, finished with 11 points and 9 rebounds.
