ARNOLD, MD – Five Anne Arundel Community College softball student-athletes have been recognized by the Maryland JUCO Conference for outstanding play this season, it was announced recently. Pitcher Gracie Culley led the way earning honors at three positions, including First Team pitcher accolades.

Joining Culley on the First Team is outfielder Sylvia Frye. Katherine Rosati and Veronica Hampton earned Second Team accolades at infield and outfield respectively. Alexis Brengle earned a spot on the Honorable Mention team at catcher.

In addition to her First Team selection at pitcher, Culley was also named to the Second Team at utility, and earned honorable mention at infield. Culley started 16 games as the Riverhawks' top pitcher, striking out 121 batters in 124.1 innings of action. Her 3.60 ERA ranked in the top 10 of the conference. When not in the circle, she posted a .363 batting average with 21 RBI in conference play.

Frye was a mainstay in the outfield for the Riverhawks and hit .358 in conference play. She struck out just three times in conference games while slugging three home runs. She scored a team-high 23 runs in conference games.

Rosati played a variety of positions in the infield all season, while hitting .482 in conference games with three home runs and 14 extra base hits to slug at a .857 clip. She struck out just four times in 56 conference at bats.

Hampton earned her honors as an outfielder, though she split time in the circle with Culley. As the Riverhawks' leadoff batter, Hampton had a .429 on base percentage and posted a .357 batting average in MDJUCO games. She drove in 12 runs and struck out just once in conference action, while scoring 22 runs.

Brengle made just one error in conference games behind the plate, recording 82 putouts and six assists in 89 chances. She hit .373 in conference games, driving in 11 runs on 19 hits. She led the team with six stolen bases in league games.

AACC finished the season 13-23 after taking second seed Hagerstown to a third and deciding game in the Region XX Tournament Play In. The Riverhawks will lose only three players to graduation.
