Howard Slips Past Men's Soccer, 2-1

ARNOLD, MD – The Howard Community College Dragons outlasted host Anne Arundel Community College in a thriller 2-1 game at Siegert Field Friday evening. Riverhawks freshman Trevor Militello scored his first career goal in the 86th minute.

Neither team scored in the opening half, but a pair of Dragons goals less than five minutes apart early in the second looked to put the visitors in command of the game.

Lassana Diakite played a ball up to Jose Garcia for Howard's first tally in the 50th minute. Anderson Marroquin trapped the ball and sent it through to Alexander Estrada for a two-goal lead in the 54th minute.

It was all back and forth for the rest of the game, until late AACC keeper Brenden LeMaster came way out of the net to play a ball, then decided to keep on going, dribbling up another 20 yards before firing a long ball to Militello, who was breaking. Milltello outran a pair of Dragons defenders before scoring his first collegiate goal.

The intensity ramped up in the final four minutes, and LeMaster came up big in a set play in the final minute to set up AACC's last drive. LeMaster finished with six saves.

AACC is off until a 6 pm game at Allegany on Tuesday, September 24th.
