Thibodeau Named NJCAA Player of the Week

ARNOLD, MD – Freshman attacker John Thibodeau (South River) has been named the NJCAA National Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week, for play ending March 1, 2020. Thibodeau opened up his collegiate career with a nine goal, four assist effort against Ocean County College, and followed with two goals against No. 3 Nassau Community College the following weekend.

In the No. 8 Riverhawks' season-opening win against Ocean County College, it took Thibodeau just 55 seconds to net his first career goal. In the first quarter alone, he scored twice and assisted two other scores. He added five in the second quarter, rattling off a natural hat trick in under three minutes to start the frame. Thibodeau capped his debut with a pair of third quarter goals while assisted two others in the stanza. He was key to AACC's 4-7 man-up performance on the day, picking up two assists while on the man-up unit.

Against No. 3 Nassau, Thibodeau scored in the first and third quarters, netting his first man-up tally to open up the third. He led AACC to a 1-3 man-up performance against the Lions. The Riverhawks were the first team to score on the man advantage this season against the Lions, who had killed off nine previous opportunities.

After AACC's Wednesday night win against Mercyhurst North East, Thibodeau ranks second in the nation in goals with 13, third in points with 18, and fourth in assists with five. His six caused turnovers ranks him second on the team, and he leads the Riverhawks in shot percentage (76.5%) and shot on goal percentage (94.1%).

AACC faces its first road test Saturday in a 1 pm game at No. 6 Mercer County College.
