Brittney Guy & Kathryn Hawes Earn Conference Volleyball Rankings

ARNOLD, MD – Riverhawk women's volleyball athletes Brittany Guy (Annapolis, MD/Broadneck) and Kathryn Hawes (Annapolis, MD/Braodneck) have earned individual stat rankings for the Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference (MD JUCO) as they prepare for post-season competition. Hawes finds herself ranked no. 3 in the conference for assists per set (5.89) and Guy, leading the conference, ranked no. 1 for kills per set (4.48) as well as no. 1 for service aces per set (1.02).

It's with little surprise to see the duo ranked so high (or leading) in their respective categories as Hawes, a sophomore Setter, has been consistently finding Guy, a freshman Outside Hitter, all season long.

"Brittney is just a strong player that makes the game look easy." Said AACC Women's Volleyball Head Coach Greg McDivitt. "She can effortlessly attack any ball from either front or back row."

In addition to her skills at the setter position, Coach McDivitt attributes Hawes' leadership to the team's success as well. "Kathryn is our team captain this year and is well-deserving of it. She not only leads the team on the court but does just as much off the court – the heart of the team for sure."

Finishing the regular season 6-11 (3-7 conference) the Riverhawks will focus their efforts into post-season play starting with the 2018 NJCAA DIII Region XX Championship against Butler County Community College. The two teams will compete for the Region XX title on Saturday October 27thin the Jenkins Gymnasium of the Anne Arundel Community College campus in Arnold, MD. The championship match is set to start at 12:00 p.m.
