Game Notes

The Riverhawks have broken their five-game losing streak at home this past Monday night (9/17), defeating the NJCAA DII Region XX Trojans of Allegany College of Maryland. Picking up their first win of the season, the Riverhawks have finally drawn their potential together to earn the 3-0 victory over the Trojans.

SET 1: The Riverhawks exhibited a controlling presence on the court early of the opening set, putting themselves at a comfortable lead over ACM. Although the Trojans worked to cut their deficit, solid game-play from AACC would give the Riverhawks the, 25-16, set win.

SET 2: Without much reason to re-access strategy, the Riverhawks continued to attack each play and communicate as a team. In similar rally to the opening set – the Riverhawks took the second set 25-17.

SET 3: Tightening up their play, the Trojans worked to keep pace with the Riverhawks – down just 2 points (16-14) as they looked to extend the match. Clearly hungry for their first win, the Riverhawks took back momentum and finished out the set, 25-16, earning the 3-0 sweep victory over the Trojans.

Brittney Guy (Annapolis, MD/Broadneck) finished with 11 kills, 3 aces off the serve, and Sylvia Frye (Severn, MD/Glen Burnie) had 6 kills and 3 service aces. Kathryn Hawes (Annapolis, MD/Broadneck) finished with 3 kills with 20 assists, and Libero Serena Hochmuth (Bowie, MD/Eleanor Roosevelt) finished with 2 kills and 8 aces from some powerful serves.
