Coming off a tough conference loss earlier in the week the Riverhawks were looking to grab a win against the NJCAA DII Region XX Lakers of Garrett College. Despite a strong showing and win of the first set, the Riverhawks struggled to keep it together – losing 3-1 at home Sunday afternoon (9/10).
SET 1: The Riverhawks came out strong in the first set: convincingly finishing the ball on offense, while digging strategically on defense – earning them the 25-14 win.
SET 2: The second set would have the Riverhawks with a seemingly comfortable lead early on but the Lakers of Garrett College would battle back. With their relentless pressure, the Lakers would claim set two, 25-21.
SET 3: Continuing their assertive efforts into the third set, the Lakers seemed to take over the pace of the match. Struggling with fundamental mistakes, AACC dropped set three, 25-18.
SET 4: With the game on the line, the Riverhawks needed a strong push to get them going. Despite keeping it close, AACC just couldn't keep up with Garrett – who would go on to win the fourth set 25-22.
With winning three straight sets, the Lakers of Garrett College would earn the 3-1 win over the Riverhawks.

The Riverhawks next contest will be another home match on Tuesday September 12h set for 6:00 pm. This will be another NJCAA DII Region XX team – the Skipjacks from Chesapeake College. Fans can come watch the action in the Jenkins Gymnasium at Anne Arundel Community College in Arnold, MD.
