Women's Soccer Blanks Potomac State

ARNOLD, MD – The Anne Arundel Community College women's soccer team secured its second shutout of the season, defeating visiting Potomac State, 5-0, in Region XX action Saturday at Siegert Field.

The Riverhawks defense surrendered just one shot on goal in the game, which was easily handled by goalkeeper Sarah Ward.

Aileen Rivera Cubero opened the scoring in the fifth minute with her team-leading eighth goal of the season. AACC carried a 1-0 lead into halftime and tacked on four goals in the second frame, starting with an unassisted score from Erika Jackson in the 53rd minute.

Morgan Duly assisted a Hannah Hopkins goal in the 61st minute to make it 3-0 in favor of the Riverhawks. Amaya Odgers fed Sudy Choc-Ramirez in the 79th minute and Lyzbeth Choc Ramirez capped the scoring with an unassisted tally in the 87th minute.

Catamounts goalkeeper Teresa Lambert made a season-high 17 saves, recording 12 in the first half alone to keep Potomac State in the game.

AACC held a 12-2 lead in corner kicks, and outshot the Catamounts, 35-1.

The Riverhawks are back in action on October 8th in a 2:30 pm game at Frederick Community College.
