Game Notes

The Riverhawks exhibited some excellent soccer in their, 6-1, victory over the NJCAA DI Region XX Hawks of Hagerstown this past Tuesday evening (10/9). Playing at home within the Siegert Stadium of the AACC campus, the Riverhawks jumped out early against the visiting Hawks, and seemingly had control of the entire match.

Within the opening minute, the Riverhawks had their first shot on goal, and four total shots before the third minute mark. After nailing a crossbar in an earlier shot, Madeline Stevenson (Severn, MD/Archbishop Spalding) would get AACC the 1-0 lead, assisted by Reyna Bocanegra (Severn, MD/North County) at the 7-minute mark. Making her way up through the offensive end, Alessandra Gargano (Linthicum, MD/North County) would add another for the Riverhawks, assisted by Randal Graham (Bowie, MD/Bowie).

The first half would continue with the Riverhawks in control of the pace, as Bocanegra would finish off an assist by Sudy Choc Ramirez (Brooklyn, MD/North County), Graham would score two from Bocanegra and Angela Sarrach (Crofton,MD/South River), and AACC would head into intermission with the 5-0 lead over the Hawks.

With a comfortable lead and control of the game, the Riverhawks continued to handle the ball well, despite the Hawks getting on the board at the 65th minute against Riverhawk goalkeeper Hannah Lieb (Annapolis, MD) who would finish with 3 saves on the day.

Ramirez would score the last goal of the contest, assisted by Graham, giving AACC the final, 6-1 victory.
