Game Notes

The Riverhawks put up quite the battle against the undefeated Jersey Blues of Brookdale Community College this past weekend (9/16), yet were unable to come out on top – falling 2-1. The 2-1 final would be the closest contest and fewest goals scored for the team out of Region XIX, who has now won seven straight. The match was hosted in Columbia, MD at Howard Community College, part of day two for the Dragon Invitational Tournament.

With Brookdale striking first at the 18th minute, Madeline Stevenson (Severn, MD/Archbishop Spalding) would connect with Randal Graham (Bowie, MD/Bowie) to tie the teams, 1-1, (with Graham on the goal) just minutes before the first half expired.

Although the Riverhawk defense played great to keep the undefeated Jersey Blues to their fewest goals scored, they were outshot 25-7 through the match, with Brookdale getting their second and winning goal, past Riverhawk goalkeeper Hannah Lieb (Annapolis, MD) mid-way through the second half. Lieb would finish with 9 saves for the match.

Up Next

The Riverhawks will practice through the week until their next match this Saturday (9/22) where they will travel to face the NJCAA DI Region XX Cardinals of CCBC Catonsville. Match time is set for 2:00 p.m. at host CCBC Catonsville.
