Game Notes

The Riverhawk women's soccer team falls to 0-1 on the season after dropping their home and season opener, 4-0, to Harcum College this past Sunday afternoon (8/26). The Riverhawks were well briefed for the competitive NJCAA DI Bears from Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania as previously facing them early on of the 2017-18 season – a hard fought battle, 1-0, in favor of AACC.

Twelve minutes into this year's match and from thirty yards out, Harcum struck first with a rocket of a shot just inches below the cross bar and over the fingertips of Riverhawk goalkeeper Hannah Lieb (Annaplois, MD).

Struggling to turn momentum in their favor, the Riverhawks were met with another Harcum goal just minutes later. Refusing to give up, the Riverhawks would hold the Bears for the remaining thirty minutes and head into halftime trailing 2-0.

AACC would resume with their push through the second half, with shots by Madeline Stevenson (Severn, MD/Archbishop Spalding) and Randal Graham (Bowie, MD/Bowie), but would fail to find the back of the net. Relentless in their attack, the Bears would score twice more in the final minutes of the match, securing the win, 4-0.

It was a tough encounter for the Riverhawks, with minimum statistal action as the lone addition to shots by Stevenson and Graham, was a shot by Hannah Hopkins (West River, MD/Southern) totaling 3 Riverhawk shots to the Bear's 17. For AACC, Lieb would finish with 2 saves on the day.
