The Riverhawks defeated the NJCAA DI Region XX Hawks from the College of Southern Maryland this past Tuesday evening (10/10), earning another Conference and Regional win.
AACC displayed some impressive offensive fundamentals during the first half of the match– rewarded first by Madeline Stevenson (Severn, MD/Archbishop Spalding) finding the net off an assist from Gabriell Keogh (Gambrills,Md/Arundel).
As communication and effective ball movement continued, Jaclyn Mullan (Jessup, MD/Meade), recently back from a concussion, would rocket a shot past CSM goalkeeper, earning her first goal of the season and grabbing the 2-0 lead for AACC - 24 minutes into the first half.
Just a minute later, Angelina Horan (Annapolis, MD/Calverton) would feed Stevenson perfectly for her second goal of the game, giving AACC the 3-0 lead. As time expired for the first half, the Riverhawks would hold that 3-0 lead over CSM, while outshooting the Hawks 8-2.
The pace of the game slowed down a bit during the second the half, yet the Riverhawks would outshoot the Hawks 12-4. Without either team finding the net during the second 45 minutes of play, AACC would finalize the 3-0 win over the College of Southern Maryland.
Next on the schedule for the Riverhawks is a Conference/Regional & Divisional match up on the road, against the Raptors of Montgomery College. The match is scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. start on Friday October 13th at the Germantown Soccer Plex.
