Howard CC Dragons Defeat Lazers of Onondaga in Semi Final Game

ARNOLD, MD – The 2017 NJCAA Women's Lacrosse Semi Final game between Howard Community College and Onondaga Community College ended with a 16-10 victory for Howard.

 

The second semi final game of the tournament started out with each team trading goals, Cassidy Delaney (unassisted) for the Dragons, and Molly Beck (unassisted) for the Lazers.

 

Erin Dingman would follow up for Onondaga (assisted by Victoria Thompson), but Howard would claim the next two – Alexis Bartley (unassisted), and Silvia Kim (unassisted).

 

The close game would continue, with Howard leading by just one (8-7) after the first half.

 

Despite tying the game at 9-9, the Lazers struggled to stop the drives of Howard – allowing 7 unanswered goals. Bridget Moore would finally stop the scoring spree but it was just too little too late as Howard claimed the victory, 16-10.

 

Howard won the ground ball battle for the day (16 to OCC's 9), but the Lazers won 16 draw controls to Howard's 11. Goalie Makenzie O'Brien had 4 saves for Onondaga and Kendall Stull had 4 saves for Howard.

 

With the win, Howard will advance to Sunday, where they will compete for the 2017 NJCAA National Championship title against Monroe Community College. Game time is scheduled for 12 p.m. at Siegert Stadium at Anne Arundel Community College in Arnold, MD.
