Concern for player safety has forced the AACC Athletics Department to cancel the rest of the women's lacrosse schedule.

Due to player availability and scheduling changes caused by the winter weather, athletics Director Duane Herr and the lacrosse coaching staff decided that it was in the best interests of the players that the remainder of the season be cancelled.

"We were looking at a scenario where we had eight games in a really short window," Herr said. "And with all our players on the field for the full 60 minutes of the game, we didn't feel they would be ready to go out the next game. But also we worried about their safety."

The move will not affect the players' eligibility as they will able to petition the National Junior College Athletics Association for hardship waivers.

"They all have an opportunity to request a hardship through the national office," Herr said, "which I will 100 percent support."
