No. 7 Onondaga Rallies Past Women's Basketball

ARNOLD, MD – The Anne Arundel Community College women's basketball team surrendered an early lead to No. 7 Onondaga Community College Friday, falling to the Lazers, 78-58. Sarah Healy and Autumn Foster-Fields each scored 16 points for AACC.

Healy added 19 rebounds to pick up her 13th double-double of the season, also collecting three blocks. Foster Fields had eight rebounds with seven off the defensive glass. Ruth Marshall added 13 rebounds (12 defensive) to go with nine points.

AACC (8-7) opened the game on a quick 10-2 run, but Onondaga answered right back. The Riverhawks didn't surrender the lead until Amber Meigs hit a three-pointer with 2:08 left in the frame to make it 18-17, in favor of Onondaga.

OCC extended the lead to as many as 16 in the second quarter and took a 44-32 lead into the break.

A Foster-Fields three-point play brought AACC back within nine late in the third quarter, but a subsequent pair of missed free throws from an OCC technical foul took the wind out of the Riverhawks' sails.

Onondaga then went on a 19-0 run before Foster-Fields hit a jumper with 6:09 left to play to make it 73-47 in favor of the visitors.

The Riverhawks outscored the Lazers in the paint at a 30-26 clip, but surrendered 32 points off of 36 turnovers.

Up next for AACC is a 1 pm home game against Harford Community College on Saturday, January 11.
