Woodland Nets Career High in Loss to Howard CC

ARNOLD, MD – Anne Arundel Community College freshman guard Sydney Woodland scored a career-high 19 points and recorded a career high-tying five steals in the women's basketball team's 99-57 loss to Division II Howard Community College Wednesday evening. The game marked AACC's Maryland JUCO opener.

Sophomore center Sarah Healy recorded her eighth double-double in a row with 14 points and 15 rebounds. Sophomore forward Autumn Foster-Fields chipped in with 19 points on 7-of-12 shooting to go with eight rebounds.

A 13-2 Howard run late in the opening frame set the tone and the Dragons held a 30-point lead at halftime. A strong third quarter brought the game closer, but AACC turned the ball over 14 times in the final frame of the loss.

The Riverhawks struggled to handle the ball all game against Howard's trap defense, giving up 51 points on 45 turnovers. The game marked the first without a made three-pointer for the Riverhawks since the 2016-17 season.

AACC (6-2) is off until Monday, November 25th, when they travel to Division II Hagerstown for a 6 pm game.
