Strong Start Leads Women's Basketball to Win Over Camden

ARNOLD, MD – Led by double-doubles from Sarah Healy and Autumn Foster-Fields, the Anne Arundel Community College women's basketball team handily defeated visiting Camden County College, 75-42, Thursday evening. The Riverhawks (2-1) opened the game on a 29-0 run, surrendering their first point just under the nine-minute mark of the second quarter.

Healy led all scorers with 28 points and 18 rebounds for her fifth-straight double-double, while Foster-Fields added 16 points to go with 11 rebounds and recorded eight steals. Ruth Marshall went 4-for-4 from the field and added six rebounds. Sydney Woodland filled the stats sheet with six points, eight rebounds, seven assists, and five steals.

AACC shot 45% in the opening frame on 9-for-20 shooting, led by six points each from Foster-Fields and Lacey Hinkle.  Camden came back to outscore their hosts, 12-9, in the second frame, but the Riverhawks took over after the break to run ahead for their second-straight win.

The two teams combined for 80 turnovers, with AACC converting 39 Cougars' miscues into points. The Riverhawks dominated the paint, outscoring the Cougars, 50-20, down low.

AACC returns to action tomorrow at the Westmoreland Tip Off Tournament where the Riverhawks will face the host Wolfpack at 5 pm. Saturday sees the two teams square off again in Westmoreland at 1 pm.
