Haensler Named NJCAA All-American

ARNOLD, MDKarley Haensler has been named to the NJCAA DIII Women's Basketball All-America Third Team, it was announced Monday. Haensler also earned NJCAA Region XX First Team accolades and Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference (MD JUCO) Second Team honors in March.

A forward from Glen Burnie, Md., Haensler led the Riverhawks and ranked in the top 10 of the MD JUCO with 17.6 points per game. She averaged 32.4 minutes and pulled down 5.1 rebounds per game for Anne Arundel Community College. Haensler started 19 of 21 games for the Riverhawks, who claimed the NJCAA Region XX Championship for the first time since 2010.

Haensler had seven 20+ point outings in the 2018-19 season, highlighted by a 35-point effort against Cecil College on January 21, and a 20-point, 14-rebound double-double against Garrett College on January 6.

"This is a tremendous honor for Karley and well deserved," commented AACC Head Women's Basketball Coach Lionel Makell. "Three quarters of the season she battled through an ankle injury and worked her way through it.  It's a great accolade to cap a Cinderella season."

Haensler is undecided on where she may play next season, but Makell noted she has several schools interested.
