Game Notes

The Riverhawks handled the NJCAA DIII Region XX Owls of Prince George's Community College for a 63-40 win this past Friday evening (1/18). Hosted by the Owls, the match-up was held at the Prince George's Community College campus in Largo, MD.

After a two-game losing streak against two Region/Conference powerhouse teams, the Riverhawks were eager to stop the pattern. Claiming the lead early, the Riverhawks would outscore the Owls, 20-13, after the opening quarter and continue to hold that control throughout. Karley Haensler (Glen Burnie, MD/Glen Burnie), Hannah Lieb (Annapolis, MD), and Sarah Healy (Davidsonville, MD/South River) would each post 6 points in the first quarter and finish with 8, 7, and 11 (respectively) after a slower second quarter but maintaining the lead (31-19) at the half.

The Riverhawks would return with a more dominating performance in the third quarter, outscoring the Owls 24-11. Although slowing down and posting just 8 points against Prince George's 10 of the fourth quarter, AACC would still earn the victory 63-40.

Heansler would finish with 21 points on the night while Healy picked up her 7th double-double of the season with 15 points and 17 rebounds. Lieb recorded her first double-double of the season, scoring 11 points and grabbing 14 rebounds.
