Game Notes

The Riverhawks dropped, 88-60, against the NJCAA DII Region XX Hawks of Hagerstown this past Monday evening (12/10) on the Hawks' home court. Despite a promising first quarter, the Riverhawks unfortunately didn't keep pace with the consistency displayed by the Hawks. Posting 22 points each quarter, Hagerstown would earn the victory.

Karley Haensler (Glen Burnie, MD/Glen Burnie) would bang a 3-pointer and a quick inside jumper to open up the night with a 5-point lead for Anne Arundel, but the Hawks would respond with a 12-point scoring drive to establish their presence on the court.  As the Riverhawks gradually created an even match-up through the first quarter, time would expire with Hagerstown leading by just three (22-19).

The game would begin to slip for Anne Arundel, as unfortunate turnovers and missed opportunities at the hoop would find the Riverhawks finishing the second quarter with a game-low of 10 points. With another 22-point quarter for themselves, Hagerstown now held the lead, 44-29, at the half.

Picking up and re-focusing, the Riverhawks worked to minimize turnovers and finish with quality shots. With Haensler leading with 9 points for the third quarter and Marcelaine Augustin (Upper Marlboro, MD/Riverdale Baptist) posting 7, the Riverhawks were hoping to use the momentum in their favor, yet Hagerstown once again would finish with 22 points for the quarter.

With the host Hawks exhibiting great discipline in their play, the Riverhawks simply couldn't catch the 22-points a quarter that Hagerstown finished with. AACC would take road loss, 88-60.

Sarah Healy (Davidsonville, MD/South River) recorded her fourth double double of the season, posting 12 points and 18 rebounds on the night, as Karley Haensler, would finish with 18 points, and Marcy Augustin finishing with 11 points on the night.
