Game Notes

Playing at home this past Saturday (11/3), the Riverhawks earned their first win of the season – handling the NJCAA DIII Region XIX Colts of Middlesex County College, 79-32. After a tough loss against Sinclair CC earlier in the week, the Riverhawks exhibited great ball-control as well as aggressive defense to earn the team win.

The Riverhawks would open with a dominating first quarter, putting up 28 points while holding the visiting Colts to just 6. The offensive scoring for AACC was well spread as the total came from Aloni Quille (Odenton, MD/Arundel) with 9 points, Karley Haensler (Glen Burnie, MD/Glen Burnie) with 8 points, Sarah Healy (Davidsonville, MD/South River) with 6, Hannah Lieb (Annapolis, MD) with 3, and Marcelaine Augustin (Lowell, MA/Riverdale Baptist) with 2. AACC had 14 steals after the opening quarter, Augustin leading with 6 of them.

Second quarter would end in similar fashion to the game's debut; Riverhawks with a large margin, 44-12. Quille would have 13, Haensler was at 10, Healy had 8 points while grabbing 6 rebounds, Lieb had 7 points, and Augustin had 8 steals with her 4 points.

The third quarter would ultimately be the Colts' most successful drive – but despite scoring their quarter-high of 12, the Riverhawks were still able to put up 18. Continuing to execute their full-team approach on offensive and capitalizing with steals on defense during the fourth quarter, the Riverhawks easily earned their first win on the season with the final score, 79-32.

Augustin and Healy would each post a double-double on the win; 11 points, 10 steals for Augustin and 14 points, 12 rebounds for Healy. Haensler would finish with 21 points, 7 boards, and 4 steals, Quille with 13 points, and Lieb with 11 points.
