Game Notes

The Riverhawks opened their season with a loss at home this past Thursday night (11/1), falling 60-42, against the NJCAA DII Region XII Tartan Pride of Sinclair Community College.

A bit of a slow start for the Riverhawks as the Tartan Pride carried a ten-plus lead for the majority of the first quarter while finishing out leading 21-9 over AACC. Second quarter action would continue at the aggressive pace set by Sinclair, while the Riverhawks tallied just three additional points to their total. As the two teams headed into the locker room at half time, Sinclair led 35-12.

AACC would find their rhythm in the third quarter, moving the ball well on offense while finishing their shots. Although still down (50-28) after the third quarter, AACC's progress was apparant – outscoring Sinclair 16-15. The fourth quarter would continue to exhibit the Riverhawk improvement, highlighted once again by AACC outscoring the Tartan Pride (14-10). Despite the strong showing by the Riverhawks during the second half, the strong first half of the Tartan Pride would be secure the 60-42 win for Sinclair.

Karley Haensler (Glen Burnie, MD/Glen Burnie) would finish with 18 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 steals on the night. Lacey Hinkle (Annapolis, MD/Broadneck) would finish with 9 points and 8 rebounds, and Sarah Healy (Davidsonville, MD/South River) would finish grabbing 14 rebounds with her 4 points and 2 blocks on the night.
