            Anne Arundel Community College's Riverhawk women's basketball team defeated MD JUCO conference opponent College of Southern Maryland, 64-61, last evening (12/6) on the campus of the NJCAA DII Region XX Hawks in La Plata, MD. This marks the second conference win of the season for the Riverhawks, ranking them at no. 4 among the conference leader board.

            It was a shaky start for the Riverhawks in their conference road match, as CSM was able to hold AACC to just seven points in the first quarter. Quickly turning it around, the Riverhawks came out with a strong 17 points (to CSM's 15) in the second quarter cutting the lead to just 1, (25-24) as they headed into the locker room at half time.

            Maintaining their momentum each step of the way, the Riverhawks were able to scramble ahead of the Hawks and claim the lead. Finishing with a 19 point third quarter and a 21 point fourth quarter, the Riverhawks were able to claim the 64-61 victory. AACC finished shooting 24-58 on the floor, 4-13 from beyond the arc, and 12-15 at the free throw line.

            Autumn Foster-Fields (Annapolis, MD/Broadneck) would finish as AACC's leading scorer with 25 points and 8 rebounds on the night. With another stellar performance, Foster-Fields is currently ranked no. 1 in the conference for points per game - averaging 23.1. (To read more about Autumn, click here).

            Also breaking double digits on the night for AACC was Jordan Graham (Severn,MD/Old Mill) who finished with 15 pts, 6 rebounds, and 4 steals.

            The Riverhawks will take a break from travel as they are set to host the NJCAA DIII Region XX Black Bears of Pennsylvania Highlands Community College on Monday December 11th. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:00 pm in the Jenkins Gymnasium of the Anne Arundel Community College campus in Arnold, MD.
