            Hosting Howard Community College this evening (11/29), the AACC Riverhawks earned their first MD JUCO Conference win of the season – defeating the NJCAA DII Region XX Dragons, 70-34.

            Pushing the court and staying aggressive on defense, AACC would jump out to an impressive 13-0 lead just minutes into the first quarter. Each with 9 points, the combination of Daja Burnett (Arnold, MD/Severna Park) and Jordan Graham (Severn, MD/Old Mill) would be top contributors to the dominant 24-7 lead after the first quarter.

            Starting off the second quarter with 6 points, Autumn Foster-Fields (Annapolis, MD/Broadneck) would begin to make her statement in the game –consistently pushing the fast break, and increasing her dominant presence on the defensive end. Fields would net 10 more points in the second quarter as AACC would head into the locker room at half time leading 38-15 over Howard.

            Third quarter pace would slow down during the Regional & Conference match-up as both teams struggled to find the hoop – shooting just 3-18 from the floor for Howard, and 8-24 from the floor for AACC.  Still holding their comfortable lead earned in the first half, the Riverhawks would finish the 3rd quarter scoring 19 to Howard's 11.

            With just 10 minutes left to play, Riverhawks would start the 4th quarter leading 57-26. Maintaining their complete control of the game, the Riverhawks would hold the Dragons to just 8 points in the fourth quarter – prevailing the dominant, 70-34, win.

            Two Riverhawks would finish with double-doubles on the night – Autumn Foster-Fields grabbed 10 rebounds along with her 30 points, and Jordan Graham would grab 10 rebounds to her 15 points. Also notable performances by Daja Burnett who finished with 7 assists & 6 steals alongside her 12 points and Hannah Lieb (Annapolis, MD) would lead AACC in rebounds with 12 boards on the night.

            The Riverhawks next match-up will be Monday December 4th as they will travel to Keyser, West Virginia to take on the NJCAA DII Region XX Catamounts of Potomac State College of WVU. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:00 pm in the Lough Gymnasium of the Catamount campus..
