Softball Sweeps Region Opponent Westmoreland

ARNOLD, MD – Riverhawk softball swept region/division opponent Westmoreland County Community College, on what turned out to be a beautiful Sunday afternoon. The two wins move the Riverhawks to 9-10 on the season, 2-2 in the conference.

Game 1 had Kaitlyn Nutwell starting on the mound for AACC. Nutwell would get the win for the Riverhawks, throwing 10 strikeouts, giving up 6 hits against 27 batters of the 6-inning game. Nutwell would also go 3-3 at bat with 3 runs.

Brittney Barlow went 2-3 with 2 runs and 3 RBIs, Brittany Lowe and Logan Endley-Abbott would each score 2, with Lowe batting 1-4 with 2 RBIs.

A 3-run homer by the Wolf Pack of Westmoreland would briefly tie the game at 5-5 but the consistent hitting of the Riverhawk offense led to AACC scoring 3 in the 5th and then 5 in the bottom of the 6th to end the game after 6 innings, 13-5, in favor of the Riverhawks.

Game 2 started with Logan Endley-Abbott on the mound for the Riverhakws. Facing 28 batters, Endley-Abbott pitched all 7 innings of the game with 1 strikeout, allowing 5 hits. At bat, Endley-Abbott went 1-3 with 1 run and 2 RBIs.

Gabrielle Bobel went 2-4 at bat with 2 runs and 3 RBIs, hitting a triple (click for video) with the bases loaded – giving AACC a 4-1 lead.
