Softball Wins DH Friday, Loses Saturday

The women's softball team had a weekend packed with double headers of their own, facing Erie Community College on Friday and then Niagara County Community College on Saturday. The Riverhawks displayed some impressive hitting on Friday, sweeping the Kats, 15-9 in game one and 11-4 in game two.

 

Hope Micallef really sparked the momentum for AACC when she hit a grand slam in the top of the 2nd giving the Riverhawks a 5-2 lead over the Kats. Gabrielle Bobel went 3-3 at bat with 4 runs; Kaitlyn Nutwell went 3-4 with 3 runs, and Brittney Barlow went 2-2 with 3 runs for AACC. Nutwell was also on the mound for the win, recording 5 strikeouts.

 

AACC would carry their drive into game two against the Kats, claiming that one 11-4. Alexxis Evans went 2-3 with 2 runs and 3 RBIs, Bobel went 1-3 with 2 runs and 2 RBIs, and Nutwell was 2-3 with 2 runs and 1 RBI.

 

Logan Endley-Abbott was on the mound for 6 innings for the Riverhawks with Nutwell on for 1. Endley-Abbott recorded 3 strikeouts and allowed only 2 earned runs against 28 batters.  Nutwell faced 3 batters and recorded 1 strikeout.

 

Saturday proved to be a tougher challenge for the Riverhawks with their double-header against Niagara County Community College. The Riverhawks fell 13-4 in game 1 and 5-1 in game 2.
