AACC Uses Hot Bats to Earn Doubleheader Sweep at Northen Virginia Community College

SPRINGFIELD, VA – Anne Arundel Community College's Riverhawk softball team had a strong showing against host Northern Virginia Community college with a 20-0 victory in the opening of a doubleheader.

In the dominating first game victory, the Riverhawks had fifteen hits and scored in each inning.  Andrea Jones led for the Riverhawks with four hits and three RBIs.  Mellissa Sell contributed three hits and two RBIs, and London Miller had five RBIs. 

Nicole Cox kept the Nighthawks of Northern Virginia Community College off the scoreboard for all five innings she pitched.  With Cox's shutout she allowed no runs on three hits while striking out three.

The offensive control continued into Game Two for AACC as they earned the 18-1 victory.  Jones, Miller, and Cox all had three hits with Cox hitting two homeruns and adding four RBIs.

Brittney Barlow grabbed her first win for the Riverhawks with the victory over NVCC.  Barlow allowed one run over five innings, struck out one, and gave up five hits.

The Riverhawks move to 7-15 overall on the season, 4-10 in the conference and will travel to Harford Community College for a night time doubleheader.  First game is scheduled for 6 p.m.
