The AACC women's 2015 softball season has come to an end. With hard-hitting competition this year, the team earned a 3-13 record for the conference and 7-19 overall.
Although the team combated with game-cancelling weather all season, the Pioneers fought through and put up a strong effort at the Region XX Tournament, held in Youngwood, PA.
Impressive performances at the plate initiated a great tournament start for the Pioneers, defeating the Wolfpack of Westmoreland County Community College 11-2. As the team moved on to face off against the Tigers from the Community College of Allegheny County-South for their second game of the day, they quickly found themselves fighting to make a comeback after allowing 4 runs in the first inning. While their determination closed the gap and even gave the Pioneers the lead - they came up short in the end, losing 7-11.
During day two of the tournament the Pioneers revealed once again, that the Wolfpack of Westmoreland County CC was no match for them – winning 11-3, with scoring spread widely throughout the Pioneer lineup.
It was a different story for the Pioneers going into their final game against the Community College of Allegheny County-South. The Tigers put up an impressive score of 21 while holding the Pioneers to 6.
Overall, it was a respectable tournament performance for the Pioneers to end their season on with special recognition for Nicole Cox and Emma Yale earning All-Region for NJCAA Region XX Division III Softball and Kayla Herrell earning Honorable Mention.
