Men's Soccer Outlasts CSM in Double Overtime Win

ARNOLD, MDAlex Calogero's goal in the 104th minute was worth the wait. The Anne Arundel Community College sophomore corralled a deflected ball and fired from just outside the box for the game-winning strike against visiting College of Southern Maryland Thursday evening at Siegert Field.

The goal punctuated a statistically even game between the two teams, and capitalized on what seemed like the umpteenth chance for the Riverhawks.

Brenden LeMaster was impenetrable in goal for AACC, using aggressive and acrobatic tactics to keep CSM off the scoreboard. He finished the game with nine saves – including six in the second half.

AACC had a pair of excellent chances in the first overtime, but CSM keeper Jared-Lee Pixton thwarted the Riverhawks' attempts. He finished with seven saves.

On paper, AACC held a 19-13 advantage in shots, including a 6-1 lead during the overtime sessions. CSM led in corner kicks, 9-6.

AACC returns to action on Tuesday, September 17, in a 4pm game at Hagerstown.
