Men's Soccer Rallies to Defeat Cecil, 6-2

NORTH EAST, MD – The Anne Arundel Community College men's soccer team erased a two-goal first-half deficit, pouring in six second-half goals to defeat host Cecil, 6-2, Tuesday evening. Angel Calderone led the Riverhawks with two goals.

 Ascende Mmandama and Lizandro Tuchez-Martinez each scored their first career goals, while Jack Castle and Luke Hanno each added tallies for the Riverhawks.

Cecil scored in the 15th minute of the game and took a 2-0 lead in the 31st minute.

Calderon put AACC on the board in the 55th minute, and sparked a three-goal spree with his second goal in the 70th minute. Castle scored the go-ahead goal 90 seconds later off an assist from Cole Switzer, and Hanno gave AACC a cushion 22 seconds after that, making it 4-2 Riverhawks.

Mmendama and Tuchez-Martinez closed out the scoring with unassisted goals in the final eight minutes.

Riverhawks goalkeeper Brenden LeMaster earned the win with a pair of saves in 67 minutes of action, after relieving starter Ryan Smith in the first half. Cecil keeper Noah Walker made 13 saves.

The Riverhawks outshot their hosts 10-4 in the first half and 22-2 in the second. AACC held a 6-1 advantage in corners.

AACC returns home Thursday evening in a 7 pm game against the College of Southern Maryland.
