Game Notes

The Riverhawk men's soccer team got their first loss of the season this past Saturday afternoon (9/8), falling to the NJCAA DI Region XX Knights of CCBC Essex, 4-2. Looking strong through out the match, the Riverhawks would see their demise during late action, as the Knights would score all four of their goals during the second half.

Peter Roberts (Pasadena, MD/Archbishop Spalding) would fire a shot past Essex goalkeeper during the 9th minute of the match, after receiving a beautiful direct pass from the corner by Angel Calderon (Pasadena, MD/Northeast) to get AACC the early 1-0 lead. The two teams would hold each other off for the remaining of the first half.

The second half would take a dramatic turn for the Riverhawks, as the Knights would score 4 unanswered goals against goalkeeper Austin Noland (Glen Burnie, MD/Glen Burnie). Refusing to simply give up, the Riverhawks would fight to get one back as Alexander Calogero would finish off another excellent cross by Calderon. Despite their efforts, AACC would ultimately fall to the Knights, 4-2.
