Game Notes

The Riverhawk men's soccer team opened its 2018 campaign in style with a 3-0 victory over the NJCAA DI Region XIX Bears of Harcum College this past Sunday afternoon (8/26), hosted at AACC.

The men of AACC showed their skill in controlling the pace of the game, executing persistent attacks against the undefeated Bears right from the first whistle. Rewarding their efforts 18 minutes into the match, Alexander Calogero (Davidsonville, MD/South River) would find the net off an assist from Mayglin Estrada (Glen Burnie, MD/Glen Burnie).

Despite being outshot by the Bears in the first half (5-4), AACC would hold on to their 1-0 lead with the help of the 4 saves made by Riverhawk goalkeeper Austin Noland (Glen Burnie, MD/Glen Burnie).

The Riverhawks would make their statement grabbing the 2-0 lead early in the second half as Noah Beall (Odenton, MD/Annapolis Area Christian School) would find the net after some strategic footwork against the Bear's defenders.  As AACC continued to create more opportunities for themselves, Estrada's crisp passing would once again set-up another Riverhawk goal – this time finished by Peter Roberts (Pasadena, MD/Archbishop Spalding).

With control of the second half, the Riverhawks outshot the Bears 8-4 and with Noland making another save paired with his defense; AACC would finish the match and earn the victory, 3-0.
