Game Notes
The Riverhawks earned a, 2-1, win over the NJCAA DI Region XX Cougars of Frederick Community College earlier this evening (10/3). A conference win, the Riverhawks are now 5-4 in the Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference - 5-6 overall.
The Cougars were first to strike in the match, taking advantage of a crowded box and sneaking a header past Riverhawk goalkeeper Austin Noland (Glen Burnie, MD/Glen Burnie) to claim the 1-0 lead, midway through the first.
Riverhawks' go-to player for corner kicks, Logan Mayette (Millersville, MD/Old Mill) put up a beautiful cross that proved to be too much for FCC goalkeeper as it found the net and tied the match at 1-1. The score would remain at 1-1 as the first half came to an end.
AACC would not take long in the second to claim the lead in the match, as Ryan Gruss (Pasadena, MD/Chesapeake) would finish off an assist from Konstantinos Nakas (Gambrills, MD/Arundel) jsut 6 minutes in, giving the Riverhawks the edge at 2-1.
Fans got to watch a great ninety minutes of play as both teams were relentless in their efforts, but with neither side scoring - the Riverhawks would earn the 2-1 victory over the Cougars.
