Men’s Soccer Wraps Up 2015 Season

Largo, Md. - The third-seeded Riverhawks season came to an end in the postseason after a 4-3 loss to Prince George's Community College Owls (#2) in the Region XX tournament semifinals. Coach Cosentino praised the team saying, "We lost a tough, hard fought match to Prince George's. We could not be any more proud of our guys. They battled and played as a team. It was a good team effort. The guys stepped up and played well, but we just came up a bit short."

The Riverhawks went 14-4-1 and were ranked eighth in the nation in the midseason ranking polls. According to Coach Cosentino the team set a school record for the most goals scored in the season with 81 in nineteen games. "Winning 14 games is a nice accomplishment. We scored the most goals and started the season better than any team in school history. The team molded together well considering we had players in some positions they were not accustomed to playing. Garrett (Garrett McLendon) and Christian (Robert Masters) provided a lot of the offense, but they had a great supporting cast. Brandon Long and Max Camm (Maxwell Camm) really secured our defense. Juan Tamayo, and Antonio Eaton also were a workforce in the center of the field. Brent Orbell was impacted with some injuries, but his leadership was valuable."

The team now turns the focus to getting ready for next season with 12 freshmen as possible returners.

UPDATE: Five Riverhawks earned all-region honors with two making the all-tournament team.

Garrett McLendon made all-region first team, and Brandon Long, Robert Masters, Maxwell Camm, and Brent Orbell made all-region second team. Camm and Long earned all-tournament honors for outstanding play in the region tournament.
