Men's Lacrosse Falls to No. 4 Howard

ARNOLD, MD – The Anne Arundel Community College men's lacrosse team fell to visiting No. 4 Howard Community College, 13-8, in NJCAA Region XX action Saturday at Siegert Field.

Trevor Collier and John Thibodeau scored three goals each for AACC (1-3), while Nick Barton added two. Francis O'Hara and Sam Weisshaar had two assists each, and Mike Renzi added one.

Howard (1-0) started the game on a 5-0 run, scoring four in the first quarter. Barton scored a man-up goal to break up the spree, but Howard scored the next three to hold an 8-1 lead at the half.

Collier and Thibodeau struck 27 seconds apart to start the third quarter, cutting the Dragons' lead to five. The two teams traded goals until midway through the fourth when Thibodeau followed up a Barton goal with his third of the day to make it 12-8 in favor of the visitors.

AACC went on the man-up shortly after but didn't capitalize on the opportunity. Howard closed out the game with under three minutes to play.

The Riverhawks went 2-for-7 with the man advantage, and the man-down unit was hot again, holding the Dragons to a 1-for-9 effort.

Bobby Ruel went 6-for-9 at the faceoff x, and Mark Kelm went 6-for-14.

Howard outshot AACC, 44-29 on the day, and held a 35-26 advantage in groundballs. Conner Westervelt made 12 saves in just over 47 minutes of action. Griffin Tucker closed out the game with one save.

AACC is scheduled to host No. 2 Harford in a rescheduled game on Tuesday, April 6 at 5 pm.
