Schwartz, Weller Qualify for Nationals, Riverhawks Runner Up at Region XX Championship

SLIPPERY ROCK, PA – The Anne Arundel Community College golf team finished second at the NJCAA Region XX Division III Golf Championships Sunday at Oakview Country Club. Luke Schwartz finished third on the individual leaderboard with a two-day 161. He and Michael Weller qualify for the NJCAA Division III Golf Championship at Chautauqua Golf Club June 4-7.

Schwartz cut seven strokes off his first day total (84) to tie for the second-best individual score in the second round with a 77 (+7). He finished with a two-day total of 161 to place third overall.

Weller was in the top three after the first round, firing an 81 on the opening day of play. He followed with an 85 to finish with a two-day 166 and qualify for nationals. 

Alex Colonna (177) and Mason Yeager (182) rounded out the scoring for the Riverhawks, who finished 16 strokes behind top team Butler.

Schwartz will make his first appearance at the national championships, while Weller returns after a 75th place individual finish in 2018.
