Riverhawks Place 1st in Match at Cumberland Country Club

Match Notes

              Cumberland, MD - The Riverhawk men's golf team placed 1st in their match at the Cumberland Country Club hosted by Allegany College of Maryland this past Thursday afternoon (4/12). Finishing 2nd in their opening two matches of the season this far; the Riverhawks have been working to claim an overall victory for themselves.

              Ryan Brophy (Annapolis, MD/Annapolis Area Christian School) would lead AACC, shooting 78 on the day – placing him 2nd overall behind the leader by just two strokes. Behind Brophy, Lance Jewell (Bowie, MD/Eleanor Roosevelt) shot an 82, tying him 4th overall, Jonathan Reeder (Dunkirk, MD/Northern) shot an 84 (7th overall), Brian Morusiewicz (Owings, MD/Archbishop Spalding) shot 91 (11th overall), Michael Weller (Edgewater, MD/South River) shot 93, and Justin Sodeman (Bowie, MD/St. Mary's) shot 95.

              The Riverhawks finished 1st over Allegany College of Maryland finishing 2nd, and College of Southern Maryland taking 3rd. Also in attendance were golfers from Garrett College and Hagerstown Community College.

              Through the first three matches of the season, Brophy's consist play has him ranked 3rd in the conference (MD JUCO) with Reeder sitting at 5th. Jewell is not too far behind, currently tied for 7th overall in the conference.

Up Next

              The Riverhawks next match will be hosted by Garret College at the Wisp Resort in McHenry, MD. The last regular-season match of the season is scheduled to start at noon on Thursday April 19th.
