Game Notes

The Riverhawks ended their downward slide of 8 straight losses by clipping the wings of the Del Tech Hawks with a 71-53 victory.

Both teams struggled to find a way to get into the win column. The first half saw the Riverhawks only shooting 24% from the floor with Del Tech only slightly better at 34%. AACC would also struggle from the 3-pt stripe by only hitting one out of 10 attempts. This struggle found the Riverhawks down by as many as 11 points throughout the first half, Tightened up defense and a late run at the end of the half capped by a 2-pt shot by point guard Walter Tolliver (Parole, MD/Annapolis) with two seconds remaining would find the Riverhawks down by only 2 points and a halftime score of 30-28.

A tough locker room talk by Coach Joe Snowden would get the Riverhawks back on track in the 2nd half.

A few seconds into the second half, Jacoby Rojas (San Angelo, TX/Northeast) would hit a strong layup off an assist from Deondre McNeill (Pasadena/Chesapeake) and would continue to find the shots he couldn't hit in the first half, finishing with another double-double of 19 points and 12 rebounds.  After six minutes of play in the second half, AACC found themselves leading by six points and Del Tech would never find the lead again. Numberous fouls by Del Tech allowed the Riverhawks to go to the foul line 13 times and hit 11 of those attempts finishing with a remarkable 85%, improving from the 64% in the first half. Deondre McNeill (Pasadena, MD/ Chesapeake) posted another double-double for AACC with 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Dayvon Cuffey (Glen Burnie, MD/Glen Burnie) would be the leading score posting another double-double with 21 points and 14 rebounds.

Tough defense and poor shooting by Del Tech (22%) would allow AACC to slowly pull away and come out king of the Hawk's nest with a 71-53 victory and a much needed win.

The Riverhawks will look to take this momentum on the road as they travel to play CCBC Dundalk.
