Game Notes

The Riverhawks would pick up a dominating divisional and regional win this past Saturday afternoon (12/15), defeating the NJCAA DIII Region XX Pioneers of Butler County Community College, 112-52. Playing at home in the Jenkins Gymnasium of the Anne Arundel Community College campus in Arnold, MD, five Riverhawks in total would hit double-digit scoring to contribute to the victory.

It wouldn't take long for AACC to pull away from the Pioneers, seemingly holding control of the game at either end. Jacoby Rojas (San Angelo, TX/Northeast) can be credited as a major contributor of the comfortable Riverhawk lead at half time (55-20) recording 18 points. Rojas would shoot a perfect 7-7 from the floor, 3-3 from beyond the arc, and 1-1 at the free-throw line to earn those 18 points of the first half.

With momentum already heavily in favor of the Riverhawks, Dayvon Cuffey (Glen Burnie, MD/Glen Burnie) would deliver another blow to the Pioneer efforts – throwing down a clean fast break dunk of a steal. BCCC would stay relentless in their efforts, but the Riverhawks would refuse to let up with impressive strengths from their own bench. Cuffey would finish with 20 points 8 rebounds, Marcus Gatson (Severn, MD/North County) 15 points 5 assists, and Walter Tolliver (Parole, MD/Annapolis) and Deondre McNeill (Pasadena, MD/Chesapeake) each finishing with 10 points.
