Game Notes

The Riverhawks fell, 96-78, to the NJCAA DIII Flyers of Sandhills Community College this past Saturday (11/18). Out of Region X, the Flyers traveled from Pinehurst, NC where they have proven to be a powerhouse team – opening their season with 6 straight wins prior to their Maryland match-up held in the Jenkins Gymnasium of Anne Arundel Community College.

AACC fought hard to maintain pace and compete with the Region X dominate team in the first half, but just as they would look to slow Sandhills' lead – another Flyer would drain a three-pointer. The Flyers would go on to hit 6 three-pointers to wrap up the first half – giving them a comfortable, 53-37, lead.

Second half action would continue in favor of the Flyers; at one point, reaching a staggering 32-point lead over the Riverhawks. AACC would improve defensively and balance out the scoring, netting 41 to SCC's 43, but enough damage was previously done and the Flyers would earn the 96-78 victory as time expired.

On a positive note to their loss – the Riverhawks finished 100% (11-11) at the free throw line, and turned the ball over only fourteen times to SCC's twenty-four.

Keith Wyatt (Upper Marlboro, MD/Griggs International Academy) and Jacoby Rojas (San Angelo, TX/Northeast) would each finish the day leading the Riverhawks with 18 points.

Up Next

The Riverhawks will play host again this Tuesday night (11/21) to the NJCAA DII Region XX Titans from the Community College of Beaver County. Traveling from Monaca, Pa the tip-off is set for 7:00 pm in the Jenkins Gymnasium at Anne Arundel Community College in Arnold, MD.
