Game Notes

The Riverhawks played their first home game of the season this past Wednesday night (11/15) hosting the NJCAA DII Region XX Lions of CCBC Dundalk. Despite an early lead and smooth transition play early in the first half, the Riverhawks ultimately fell, 70-63, to the Lions of Dundalk.

The AACC men's basketball team came out strong in their first home contest of the season – moving the ball up the court and finishing shots. Halfway through the first half, the Riverhawks found themselves with a 19-12 lead and a noticeable control over the pace of the game.  As the Lions worked their offense they were able to close the gap, but after the first half AACC still held the lead at 27-24 while shooting 11-32 on the floor, 4-11 from beyond the arc, and 1-2 at the free throw line.

The second half would bring eighteen minutes of each team trading the lead until a 3 pointer by Dundalk before a timeout gave them an affirmative 6 point lead with just 1:27 remaining.  The Riverhawks would put forth the effort in their attempt to reclaim the lead but with the Lions already ahead, and capitalizing at the foul line, AACC would come up short as CCBC Dundalk earned the 70-63 win.

Terry Kenner (Glenn Dale, MD/DuVal) finished with 19 points and 4 assists for the Riverhawks, with Keith Wyatt (Upper Marlboro, MD/Griggs International Academy) after Kenner finishing with 13 points, and Jacoby Rojas (San Angelo, TX/Northeast) with 11 points.
