Winter storm prevents AACC men’s basketball team from traveling to the 2015 NJCAA Division III Region Tournament

Inclement weather from winter storm Pandora forced host CC Allegheny College-Allegheny, Pittsburgh Pa. to postpone the first day of the region tournament, and unsafe conditions prevented the third-seeded Pioneers from traveling to play their first round game with #2 CCAC- Boyce, which had been moved to Sunday, Feb. 22.

The tournament could not be delayed further due to scheduling deadlines for the upcoming District VII championship, and the Pioneers ended the season with a no-contest.

This was unfortunate for the Pioneers (9-17) who had great success this season going 7-1 in Region XX division games.  AACC's only Region XX Division III loss had been to Prince George's Community College who were the top-seed and eventual tournament champion, defeating CCAC-Boyce 143-91.

Prince George's hosts the 2015 DIII Men's Basketball District VII Championship on Feb. 27-28 to determine who moves on to the national championship, March 12-14 at SUNY Sullivan.

The Pioneers will begin the rebuilding process as they lose six sophomores, including Calab Smith who was first team all-region this year, and Ryan Hawkins who earned all-region and all-region tournament honors last season.
